Puzzle Day by Castorland 2018 — a championship of records

One of the most fascinating and unique competitions for speed, agility, attentiveness and logic — Puzzle Day by Castorland or the high-speed puzzle assembly championship will be held in Moldova for the sixth time this year. This event traditionally gathers a large number of puzzle enthusiasts of all ages and from different countries.

The Puzzle Day by Castorland 2018 championship is remembered not just for a record number of participants — there were 94 teams at the same venue to compete for the champion title. It was for the first time that participants were able to assemble a puzzle of 500 pieces in just 31 minutes and 40 seconds. Such unexpected record was set by the team "Cyclobutane", which competed in the amateurs category. The gold medalist among professionals became a Romanian team. Despite the fact that puzzles for this category were more complex, participants were able to put together a picture in just 43 minutes and 35 seconds.

These records as well as the teams preparation look impressive. They managed to almost double the performance of previous years. For example, in 2017 the winning teams managed to build the puzzles in just over one hour (1 hour and 18 seconds for amateurs, 1 hour 1 minute and 20 seconds for professionals). In 2016 the champions title went to the team that built the puzzle in 1 hour 34 minutes and 47 seconds. It should be noted that for some teams participation in this competition has become a good tradition. 

As a reminder, the Puzzle Day by Castorland 2019 contest is due on 24 March at Tekwill excellence center. There is limited participation this year, therefore hurry and register in advance.

This is a family competition, which means it is not at all necessary to build a team of professionals and experts. You can take part with the whole family, in the company of friends or colleagues. The youngest and the most restless participants will be able to have fun in a special play space. 

As it was last year, the championship participants will be divided into amateurs and professionals. Each team is given a 500-piece puzzle to be assembled in 2 hours. The winning teams are those who build their puzzle the fastest.

If you register a team before March 20, the participation cost will be 300 MDL. Since March 21,  the participation cost will increase by 100 MDL.
